The Vocal Ensemble "ConTakt"
was established in Copenhagen in 1998. The ensemble consists of
8 singers – some of us professional, others amateur musicians.
ConTakt’s key issue is to present music and lyrics in a personal and attentive manner. This is why ConTakt has no choirmaster! In stead, all the singers in turn direct each other and in that way attribute a dynamic and intense character to the music. Being only
10 singers, we bring the individual voice and, as our name suggests, the musical contact with each other and the audience into focus.

The repertoire covers a wide field from some of the oldest choral works by Palestrina to modern European choral music. We have specialized in a Scandinavian choral tradition and we are particularly fond of Danish composers like Carl Nielsen, Svend S. Schultz and Vagn Holmboe. The light and delicate sound of their compositions is characteristic of what we in Denmark call ”our treasure of songs”. Besides this nordic tone we have also had works of English, German and French composers like
Vaughan-Williams, Holst, Bach and Duruflé on our programme.
ConTakt has primarily given recitals in churches in Denmark. In 2000 we had our first experience giving concerts to a foreign audience travelling with concerts in
Tuscany, Italy.
